Managed CAIO
Experienced AI leadership without immediately hiring a full-time executive.
A named Managed CAIO assumes a clearly agreed mandate, governs the AI portfolio and reports regularly to executive management.
What is a CAIO?
Chief AI Officer — the executive role for AI in the organisation
CAIO stands for Chief AI Officer. It is the leadership role accountable for AI strategy, governance and implementation within an organisation. The CAIO decides which AI initiatives to pursue, ensures they are implemented in a controlled and compliant manner, and reports to executive management on progress and impact.
Strategy
Which AI initiatives do we pursue — and which do we not? The CAIO makes these decisions based on commercial and strategic criteria.
Governance
The CAIO ensures AI systems are operated in a compliant, safe and traceable manner — including the EU AI Act and internal policies.
Implementation
The CAIO coordinates initiatives across departments, manages external partners and maintains focus on measurable outcomes.
Many organisations need this leadership role but are not yet ready to hire a full-time executive. The Managed CAIO model closes this gap: an experienced practitioner assumes the mandate on a retained basis — with clear accountability, defined operating cadence and regular reporting to executive management.
The Managed CAIO does not replace the general leadership of IT. The role is accountable for selecting commercially sound AI initiatives, governing them appropriately, coordinating controlled implementation and measuring them against agreed outcomes.
Monthly retainer based on agreed capacity and scope of responsibility.
